Airport Parkour
Travel superpowers unlocked! Paul and I escape Nairobi and proceed to bounce around the globe for 36 hours, navigating ticketing obstacles, making a number of hotel false starts, and eventually landing in Amman in the aftermath of a snowstorm.
The Tallest People in the World
Out interactions with the Masai in Kenya were fascinating and confusing on many levels. They are in the middle of a massive generational shift, trying to balance a reverence for their history and culture with vibrancy in the modern age. I know I will be processing our conversations and experiences for a long time to come. Plus, they are very tall and found my height hilarious.
Gentlemen in Nairobi
I never made it through Amor Towels’s A Gentleman in Moscow, but I have seen a few movies and Disney programs about people who live in hotels. I did not imagine I would be one of them.
DAMMIT COVID!
Well after nearly 6 months, 22 countries, and over 40 cities, COVID finally caught up with us.
Staying Positive
If you’re going to be trapped somewhere by COVID, there are worse places than Nairobi.
Roses & Thorns and Wild Animals
Many changes to our initial itinerary. We were on Plan D, now Plan E.
Snapshot: Teenagers are the same everywhere
From the hills of Eastern Kentucky to the grasslands of Kenya, teenage boys are pretty much the same anywhere. And I kind of love them.
