COVID Strikes Again!
Yup! After a fabulous four days in Singapore, we had our sights set on Manila, Philippines. Surprisingly, Sophia tested positive for COVID, again.
Everyone else was negative and so we had them retest her (2nd antigen) and then retest her (PCR) again, and then we tested her with a home kit (that’s 4 tests in about 4 hours). And despite crossing all our fingers and toes, all 4 tests were positive, so we had to accept the conclusion that she in fact has COVID. We are nothing if not persistent optimists. 😎
Now she did test positive once before in Kenya, but quickly tested negative the next day, which allowed her to go onto Egypt with my parents (while the rest of us stayed in Kenya and missed Egypt altogether). So, she may have had a false positive that first time or has now caught a different strain. She feels “decent” as she says, but does have a bit of a head congestion and sore throat, so…
As Ben stayed behind with Paul in Kenya, I was glad to stay with Sophia here in Singapore. We’ve extended our stay at the Sheraton Four Points - lovely hotel on the Riverwalk - and are hunkering down till Sunday when we have a new flight to Manila.
Hoping we are both negative and can see a bit of the Philippines before we all head to Australia on March 27th.
